A little unsure of myself.
I don't mind if the model feels unsure of himself, it adds depth that I think everyone can relate to. Most guys pose for the experience, there vanity or the fantasy, it is rare that guys do this for the money (because I don't pay that much ) this guy said he was here for the money. A 19-year-old "straight" boy from Utah. I mean no offense to straight men, but this boy was far too kind and sensitive to be straight. However it was not my mission nor my job to pull him out of the closet. All I wanted to do was... capture his emotion, improve my skill set and see him without pants on.
Our session was interrupted by my roommate who said she was going to be out all day. ( I must've done this drawing 10 years ago, it's been forever since I've had a roommate.) After she came home he got really nervous ( understandably) it's awkward to be sitting around naked and have someone walk in and see you, unexpectedly. I offered to pay him, he refused to take the money saying that "he didn't work the full two hours and we can get together again sometime."
Noteworthy: he picked this pose, for a first pose. This is kind of a balls out (literally) it's as if his body was saying " here I am. I'm young beautiful and sexy." And then his right arm is saying " let's not get crazy, please don't hurt me." And his left-handed fist said that He was terrified.

No time to draw.
I debated for a while as to whether or not to post these pictures. The main reason being... I like the idea of having all drawings of guys ( I know I have other photos of guys up ) but I feel like I was moving in a new direction, and I liked where I was going. On the other side of the argument, I really feel that our lives are full rules and to add extra rules doesn't make any sense.
Obviously.... I decided to publish the photos, and here's why.
First off, this model said I could (his only request was that I not use his real name, because he teaches high school students and he didn't want any of them to accidentally stumble across the pictures.)
Second, the beauty of his body pales in comparison to what's inside of him, (he was describing his Buddhist beliefs, while naked... explaining how he no longer tries to hold onto material things... while naked. If you think about it.. at that moment he was void of all material things.) I should note: he contacted me about drawing him, our schedules would not lineup for a sitting so I suggested we take a few pictures that I can work from. (He lives on the East Coast and was in town for a short visit.) I really could go on and on about this model, and I think it would be impossible to find a bad thing to say about him. But I'm going to move on to.........
The real deciding factor to this post. I often talk about my backyard and my fireplace, I really thought that these pictures capture the magical feeling of being in these locations. Also, it's just about one week to Christmas, and it's sunny, beautiful and naked in my backyard. Normally I'd have a fire going, but it was like 80° out... (jealous???)
I never noticed that my fire extinguisher was so prominently displayed next to my fireplace. "I'm a safety girl" - Julia Roberts "pretty woman"

About face.
On this day, the group which is normally gay men had the addition of one female. (Sometimes you don't realize how homoerotic the poses are until you're drawing with a girl). The beeping of the timer let us know that it is time for the models break, he asked if he could take a look at what everyone was drawing. Silently and one by one he went around the room examining everyone's work, when he got to the girl he said "interesting.... you're the only one who drew my face.

Over poser
Even though he had the goofy look on his face, I can't say I was complaining. It was a beautiful Southern California afternoon, and I was in the backyard with a gorgeous naked guy ( who was cheesy) but, butt naked. At some point he announced that he needed to take a leak, I told him he could use the house bathroom or just go in the backyard. He went over by the fig tree to do his business, and for the first time that day he was holding a decent pose (I am not now nor have I ever been into "water sports") but he was standing naturally and his body was relaxed. So I told him to hold that pose...... he immediately put his arm on the tree and widened his stance ( ruining what was natural) honestly who pees like that?

Working for magazines
having a supportive family.... makes this blog difficult. Even though I have advised them not to, I know several members of my family visit my blog regularly. I know, because if I don't post for long periods they will call and ask why.
With that said.....
magazine work, I love magazine work. The artwork above I did for (unzipped) magazine. I received an e-mail asking if I'd be interested in doing the artwork for an article about talking dirty. ( Hells yeah! ) Also in the e-mail (and I love this part) the editor asks for.... two guys going at it..... clearly they are talking.... and one should have a veiny Hot throbbing cock..... for this they pay me.
The black-and-white drawing, is the pencil sketch that I did first. Once that was approved, I asked if they wanted normal coloring or my crazy wild coloring. He replied "absolutely crazy wild coloring" and that's what got published.
Good morning????
it has come to my attention that I should not blog first thing in the morning. Reviewing and posting work from long ago leaves me a little (excited) for the rest of the day, very difficult to focus. I was so excited to pick this morning's picture that I forgot to put the water in the coffeepot!
I'll say more about this model later ;)

The best models
This guy was a dancer in music videos or something like that, he was lying on a blanket on the floor in front of my fireplace. He was telling me that he got into dance because his sisters were in ballet and he felt like he was always at the dance studio, so he decided to join. It was one of those great moments of good conversation, good wine, good music and a great model.
